Served 460ml – yielded 4 portions for my baby. 🙂 He finished one portion, one is for tomorrow lunch and I froze the other two portions.

Tomato is a good source of Vitamins A, C, K, folate and potassium.

Tomatoes are actually fruits and they contain a high level of acidity that may cause tummy upsets or even rashes around the mouth and/or bottom. Raw tomatoes are most likely to cause this type of a reaction as opposed to cooked tomatoes (i.e. tomato sauce).

If you are unsure of when to introduce tomato to your baby then check with your doctor first.

My toddler son used to get really bad rashes around his mouth from raw tomatoes only, until I removed the skin and seeds completely and it was fine ever since.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 butternut squash (peeled & chooped)
  • 1/2 sweet potato (peeled have chopped)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes (peeled & de-seed)
  • 1/4 cup red split lentils (washed well)
  • 50-100 ml of liquid – breast milk, steamed liquid, pre-boiled water

Method

  1. Wash the lentils and set to boil for 20 min. Turn down to medium heat. Once cooked, drain the water and set aside.
  2. In the mean time, steam butternut squash, sweet potato and tomatoes together for 15mins.
  3. Add liquid and blend until your desired consistency.
  4. If you want to use your own breast milk to blend then wait until they have cooled down first.
  5. This is suitable for freezing. Do not freeze if you have used thawn breast milk.
